As I reviewed information and then conceived of this series, the statistics on female managers stood out to me. Knowing that increased diversity is important to most law firms and with more women choosing to attend law school, I thought these statistics were important to include as part of the Like a Boss series.
Female bosses are slightly more engaged than their male counterparts are, and those employees working for female bosses are also more engaged.
As you might expect, employee preferences regarding the sex of their boss changed dramatically from 1953 to 2015. However, despite their demonstrated skill at management and engaging their employees, we still have a much smaller pool of female bosses in the workforce and women only hold 5% of the Fortune 500 CEO slots.
One of the statistics that I found the most interesting and thought-provoking was which sexes make up the most and least engaged pairs of managers and employees. I don’t want to spoil it though. You’ll have to take a look at the info graphic to see what I mean.
In the next infographic, we will explore the best boss traits and behaviors cited throughout the source articles for this series.
