Why you need this policy:

As with any other corporate website, law office websites collect and use personal information of site visitors, including “personally identifiable” information, i.e., names and other information that can be traced back to a specific individual. Such use and collection of personal information is subject to requirements under privacy laws.

How this policy helps you:

One of the most important privacy protections afforded to individuals is the right to know what personal information third parties, including website hosts, collect from them and how they use it. That is precisely what this Model Policy does.

How to use this policy:

This Model Policy combines the best provisions of several different models from around the U.S. Note that the Policy is limited to a particularly privacy challenge faced by law offices: collection and use of personal information on the law firm’s website. You also need broader policies covering collection of personal information from other sources, e.g., written job applications submitted by prospective employees.
